Answer» 1. My computer will not start. 2. It takes at least 3 mintes and hitting the button 10 times to turn on. 3. When it turns on, it opens up BOIS. 4. Sometimes it shuts down within seconds. 5. Usually shuts down after a minute if no activity besides changing tabs. 6. Will shut down immediatly if I press any buttons or try to exit.
Sony Vaio, Windows XP - and I can't find the specs on it - back says Model # PCV-7752
Help PLEASEIf your computer is not starting because of improper CPU SPEED the BIOS will usually reset it. If you can get into the BIOS; try change the settings to 'Default', or 'fail-safe'.
May I suggest also: puterhope.com/cleaning.htm.Thank yoiu for your quick response... i am freaking out with all the data I have on that cpu. I disconnected it so I could plug this one in.
1. When it does decide to turn on - it goes straight to BOIS. 2. When it does allow me a 30 - 60 seconds in BOIS, prior to automatic SHUTDOWN, it does not let me make any changes. If I click on anything it will shut down at that moment usually, but the couple times it stayed on, when I went to SAVE whatever - it shutdown at that point in time.
I am going to hook that cpu up again and use your suggestions. I will report back in the am or tomorrow EVENING (it's 3:45am here, have to be at work at 8:00am) I am fustrated and scared everything is going to be lost. I have been doing everything I can think of since 8:45pm!
I even just read through all 435 posts on this site... lol... that's how much this is affecting me.
Thank YOU so much for your quick response and I will respond again tomorrow (Friday).. if you think of anything else... just post it and I will check this site prior to me coming home. Thanks again... so much!Don't get too frustrated, all your data is on the hard drive, not the CPU. Even if you cannot get the computer to start, the hard drive can always be installed into another computer and your data retrieved.
