Solve : StorageLabs TinyUDF Volume DVD, how do you get it to play on your PC?? |
|
Answer» I have a DVD-R video disc that my friend burned for me. It plays fine on his HP Touchsmart computer (from which he burned that DVD-R) and I can play it just fine on the pioneer DV-434 DVD player I have in my room just fine. I guess my computer's drive can't read the DVD structure of the disc with that StorageLabs TinyUDF thing. Nope. UDF is UDF, whatever the software used to control the burning. The problem is not due to StorageLabs. Maybe if your friend used a different type (+R or -R) or brand of disk that could solve the problem. I guess so, my DVD drive on my computer is a DVD+/-RW drive, should be able to read of all types but I understand not all DVD discs (burned) are readable on all drives or players and even when one DVD+R works fine, another may crash. Anyway, probably using a different DVDR format or a different brand may solve the problem. But in any case, thanks for the response, I was just wondering why my computer wouldn't play it but it's ok I guess if my standalone DVD player can play it and I can play the video ripped onto my HARD drive. If I wanted to though, I could just burn a copy myself onto a blank DVDR and it would be fine as WELL It's possible that the laser alignments don't sync up properly. If one is out one way, and the other is out the other way, but they are both 'on' enough to work independantly. Does the same problem exist with any other disks between the same two optical drives?Same two optical drives, which do you mean? Sorry, I kind of drifted off into vagueness I guess. I mean if the drive that the disk was written with is just slightly off in one direction, and the one you can't read it with is slightly off in another direction. The alignments can still be within tolerance enough to function fine, but they may have some trouble with the odd disk that is written on either one. I hope that explains what I mean a little better. It's 35C in my apartment right now and I'm sweating out my grey matter...Thanks Quantos, as long as my standalone DVD player plays the disc fine, I'm happy |
