Answer» DEAR Experts, I have pc P4S800 MX , due to problem with cpu and motherboard I like to replace my cpu and mothered. Could any one suggest few motherboards and cpu, so I can USE with my all existing components. Existing components are, Advance 230 volt power supply, 20 pin and 4 pin CONNECTORS to motherboard DDR 333 (2.5) 516 MB*16 ram (one stick), form factor micro atx 24.4*24.4 thank you for helpI WOULD just replace what you have, especially if you have Windows installed and don't want the hassle of calling MICROSOFT. And with the power supply and ram you have, you are kind of limited as to what you can do. Since RAM is so cheap right now (~$25 for 1gb) I would recommend getting new ram too. I recommend anything made by Intel or ASUS Here's a quick setup for around $250: motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121035 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115030 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134487 This will void your oem copy of windows xp (if that is what you are using) Add another $100 for an operating system. If you have a retail version of widows, you will be good to go.Quote This will void your oem copy of windows xp not necessarily, i have an OEM copy and i have used it in my old machine and in my new one and i have never ran into any trouble.Quote from: homer on April 25, 2008, 04:39:29 PM QuoteThis will void your oem copy of windows xp I've only run into this problem with Vista. I've not seen this happen with XP. The only thing I found with XP was having to reinstall it after changing the motherboard.Maybe I am unlucky I have had problems twice when trying to upgrade. They (Microsoft) were kind enough to help me out, but they didn't have to. What I should have said is it MAY void his copy of Windows. Something to be aware of and prepared for should it happen. |
