Solve : "System has recovered from a serious error" warning?

Answer»

Hi

My desktop PC is displaying a nasty warning now and again. TODAY it appeared at first turn on, "The system has recovered from a SERIOUS error" and a log is created etc etc, please tell MS about it.

How do I find out what the error actually WAS? There is an error code in the report

BCCode : 1000000a BCP1 : 00000016 BCP2 : 0000001C BCP3 : 00000000
BCP4 : 80502392 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

but nothing I can MAKE sense of... now the warning won't go away.

I was having a problem with the system restarting during the screen saver, but it was resolved when I turned screen saver off. Could be related?

How long has this been going on?

What were you doing when you first noticed it?

Did you make any hardware or software changes on your computer prior to this happening?

Can you please give us the specs on your PC?sorry.. specs

Windows XP SP2, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5600+, 2.0GB ram, NVIDIA GEFORCE 8500,

I wasn't doing anything today when it happened... it came up at start-up.

It has happened a few times only in the past week and I havent changed anything hardware RECENTLY at all... or software actually.

In device manager I have just noticed 3 items with no drivers installed (suddenly they have disappeared?)

Other PCI Bridge Device
Sm Bus controller
USB Controller

I've updated drivers for USB although that was working fine, but the other 2 I cannot find drivers for... would this have something to do with it?

Try a system restoreIf the system restore doesn't work...visit your computer manufacturer's website for your drivers...or post your make and model here...and we'll locate them for you.
