Hi, i am hoping someone can help me...
I hope i have posted this in the write section!

UPON attempting to open a Word document, i receive the error message "System is dangerously low in resources... do you want to close this PROGRAMME?" so i abandon opening the document, and the system freezes.
The memory says i still have 17 GB left!

I can run WMP fine, but not documents!

So i tried to run DEFRAG, only for it to continuously restart and then about 40% through, tell me to run ScanDisk.
So i did, only for it to continuously display the "...has had to restart 10 TIMES, please close programmes..." message, even when i can find no other programmes to close!!

Please help!

KatTo successfully run Scandisk and Defrag on the boot pertition on my Win98SE box, I first run EndItAll to kill the extra processes, then run Scandisk and Defrag. This happens on all Win9x boxes, Scandisk and Defrag need exclusive ACCESS to the boot partition on the HD to succeed. Every time something else writes to the disk, Scandisk and Defrag restart...

For your Resources, I would have to start with seeing your Autoexec and Config files (if any). What version of MSOffice are you running? I do well with Office 97, the later versions are a little bloated for Win98.
