TIME Magazine lists 50 Worst Inventions

They mention 'Microsoft Bob'.
But why did the miss the Microsoft SPOT watch. Boy I hate those dumb lists. Worst kind of lazy journalism, especially this one, which seems to have been put together by an especially dumb intern. I guess TIME magazine had some space to fill. Most of those things aren't "inventions" anyhow. Most of them (the ones that are products) are mainly recognizable to a US audience. I would argue against Betamax being a "bad invention". It was just Sony's implementation of helical scan video cassette technology which lost out to JVC's VHS format, for reasons not completely to do with technical quality. My list of "bad inventions" would include the guillotine, the gallows, the rack, shrapnel, flechettes, nuclear weapons, chemical weapons, gas chambers, the electric chair, Botox and gimp masks. I guess those would not make for light hearted reading.
