okay, first off im not sure where to put this so ILL put it here...

yesterday i was playing a game, fine fine fun and all, i shut the COMPUTER blah blah, then this morning, when i turned on the computer there were pink bars across the screen, they just stay like that, these vertical dashes across the screen, heres a pic:



how do i fix this? how does it happen?

Either a bad video card or video drivers need updating. Does this happen when the machine is booting or just within Windows? If all the TIME, it would be the card. If unsure because you cannot see colors at startup assume it is both.

I would start with REMOVING and reseating the video card. Then download the appropriate drivers for it and install.

the video card is ATI Radeon 9800 XT

but the weird thing is, that earlier, for a moment it started working fine, i didnt do anything but it just went back to normal for about 10 mins before the pink bars came back.

if you need any other info then just ask and ill dig it outRemove and reinstall it (while powere off). If there is a fan, make sure it is spinning when it is POWERED on. Check your temps with Everest:

thx!It sounds like heat build up to me. It gets better when you turn the machine off for a while. It gets worse when playing a game, which is graphics intensive.

When did this start? How old is the card? Be sure and check the fan and temps! Do not listen to [size=16]PINK[/size] Floyd!
