Solve : The MoviePass Economy? |
|
Answer» This title does not make sense. But, in view of some things that have come, it does not matter. Consider: A computer under $100 that out performs the $1200 model twisty years ago. And it becomes a INSTANT success and makes a big profit. Something like a small RESTAURANT the sells coffe for $5 a cup and becomes a profitable franchise. The overpriced coffee becomes what people want. Retailers find they have to complete with a store that sells everything for $1. You get a free credit card that gives you cash back for every purchase. So the economy is crazy. What next? Here is a toughie-in-cheek essay by By Kevin Roose on nytimes.com The Entire Economy Is MoviePass Now. Enjoy It While You Can. Quote I’ve got a great idea for a start-up. Want to hear the pitch? For the full story.... https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/16/technology/moviepass-economy-startups.html Do you have a crazy New Economy Story?Movie Pass is broke now! They have to borrow money to even pay for movies going. Meanwhile AMC is doing the same thing but for $20 a month and only 3 movies a week. The idea is that you build out your own little ecosystem and customerbase by heavily subsidizing the cost of your "product". Eventually, you either: -Run out of money, and deploy your golden parachute. -Monetize your customer base by offering paid services or increasing the price of your base services slowly over time while adding new "features" to justify the price increase to customers. Your large customer base means if done right you'll only make a minority mad and stop using your product and be able to rake it in. -Another company buys you out in order to acquire your ecosystem.
