Solution :

Here ,

The given equations are ;

5X + 2y = 24 ---------------(1)

3X - 2y = -8. --------------(2)

ADDING eq-(1) and (2) , we get ;

=> 5x + 2y + 3x - 2y = 24 + (-8)

=> 5x + 3x = 24 - 8

=> 8x = 16

=> x = 16/8

=> x = 2

Now ,

Putting x = 2 in eq-(1) , we get ;

=> 5x + 2y = 24

=> 5•2 + 2y = 24

=> 10 + 2y = 24

=> 2y = 24 - 10

=> 2y = 14

=> y = 14/2

=> y = 7

HENCE ,

x = 2 , y = 7
