below is the specs of my "test console", which i USE to test hard drives, optical drives, random PCI devices, and such. it is running WinXP pro SP1 (no need to update as i will not use the security center in the first place on this rig). the specs are as follows:

Intel Celeron 766Mhz Coppermine 128 CPU w/ 128k cache and a 66mhz FBS
256Mbs of PC133 Memory
20gb Maxtor 2B020H1 ATA100 HDD w/ a 2mb buffer
52x K-Hypermedia KHCRW522452 52x CD-RW drive
HP Asus CUW-AM Socket motherboard w/ Intel Whitney 810 chipset
and a Rexus 350w power supply powering it all.

yes, this system somehow runs XP quite well (aside from boot time, takes a couple minutes sometimes)

when i upgrade the PC at my grandmothers, i will have to order the new CPU with a motherboard due to the fact that it is an old 462 socket A motherboard, the new motherboard, and old CPU from the computer at my grandma's will go into a differant case with the rexus power supply, 20gb hdd, and cd-rw drive from the Emachine case (full atx board wont fit in the case). it will then be running at about 1.1ghz, with 256mbs of DDR333 memory (i have a DDR333 256mb stick laying around, teh new board supports DDR333, odd how life works out isnt it?)
