Solve : There is a red vertical line on my laptop. How do I fix it??

Answer»

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop computer. In the last week or so it has started to have a thin red vertical line on the right side of the screen. It comes and goes, but lately is there more than not. I can move the screen up and down and it will go away sometimes, but then other times that doesn't help.

Can anyone suggest a way to fix this?

Thanks for your help in advance.

That doesn't sound good! I've never seen this, but it certainly does sound like a hardware issue. Is the laptop under WARRANTY? If so, I would make contact with Dell and see about a REPAIR.
no, the computer is over 3 yrs old, so i guess i could be sol.....I have an old Windows 98 laptop that does that here. On MINE, the screen is loose, it flops a bit. I'm guessing with mine, that the ribbon from the screen to the motherboard is damaged.

I'd say you have a similar problem. I'm not sure if the ribbons can be replaced though.Im having the same problem with my Gateway
The warranty is over
ShortyCrdclt....Shorty....We cannot help you as this is a hardware issue.
Your best bet would be to send it in for repairs.Quote from: Skitz on October 30, 2008, 02:40:31 PM

However, since it might just be something else, I would be inclined to take it to a professional laptop repair PLACE to get it checked over. Most PLACES will give a diagnosis and repair cost estimate.
