Solve : Thinking about moving dimension 8400 guts into new case?

Answer»

Cheers everyone.
I want to move my dell dim 8400's guts into a new, preferrably alluminum and with front fan, case. I looked on newegg but I dont know if my motherboard for instance will fit. Anyone have suggestions on how to know what will fit in what case? (mini tower/mid tower/big tower) My computer as i SAID is a dell DIMENSION 8400, will it fit in say this case?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119077You could just open up your computer and measure it yourself.

I believe Newegg usually lists dimensions for their parts.Since it is designed to accomodate both ATX and mini-ATX the MBoard fit should be no problem....where you might run into a dilemna is the PSU. Dell's are propietary so measure yours carefully and check the new case's specs for the PSU housing.uh oh... what is a psu? Sorry...Power Supply Unit.Quote from: CBMatt on May 10, 2007, 08:17:07 AM

newegg doesnt givethe dimensions of DISTANCES between the screws and such.Sometimes the arrangement of the PCI SLOTS,e tc. don't match up either. As a general rule I would say don't attempt it.

What's wrong with the case ANYWAYS?Quote from: neo.cerberus on May 10, 2007, 02:15:59 PM
