Solve : To all webmasters: Design to aspire to? |
|
Answer» I don't about the rest of you, but I love seeing examples of high quality websites that blow you away. Here's one with incredible artwork and excellent use of modern web technology. Well worth a look, for the "wow factor" and for inspiration: http://www.fantasy-interactive.com/Extremely well built...Thanx Rob.Yes, I gree!No dialup user would wait for it to load. The "wow" factor is good for design, but not loading time. It took me ALMOST 20 seconds to load on DSL. Quote The "wow" factor is good for design, but not loading time.Agreed. It took about 35 seconds from the time I clicked on the link before the Flash video started playing, and then it did not play without stopping for buffering. I'm on DSL but apparently my DSL is not fast enough for that site to work SMOOTHLY in my browser.Good points. I was behind a big fat 100 meg pipe when I first looked at the site so didn't notice the download overhead. There is always a trade-off between eye-candy and speed - all designers of desktop windowing systems know this... BUT! One of the things I like about the site, is not just the excellent design work, but also the presentation. I find it easy to navigate, despite being quite innovative. For sure, there are things to criticise. The video on the front page seems to have no way of stopping it. I don't APPRECIATE it when multimedia elements - especially noisy ones - are imposed on the viewer. There's too much scrolling, particularly in lower resolutions. But for anyone who wrongly thinks they've made a pretty-looking site, I think this is a site to direct them to, to grab a dose of reality...Oh I wish!Great site.It took me 15 seconds to load.Guess that's because I have a 1999 model Gateway E4200. Wish I had a fast computer like everyone else.BwaHaHaHa! SNAP!Street1, the computer is not the issue here, it's the Internet connection speed. Apparently, you have a FASTER DSL or cable Internet connection than Dilbert and me. Quote Street1, the computer is not the issue here, it's the Internet connection speed.
