Solve : trouble with KVM switch?

Answer»

Hi  ,

at work I got a "new" Belkin KVM switch that doesn't work properly:
everytime I start my 2 computers, it doesn't TAKE any keyboard entries and sometimes no mouse commands. And also it switches without my touching it ... after 15 minutes of fumbling around turning off the computers, unplugging the keyboard cable from the switch...it works as it is supposed to without any trouble.

Do you have any ideas? Loose contact?

Here is a quick answer.

If it is for work, you don't need this kind of time WASTER. Find another solution. CLEAR up some space on your desktop and get two keyboards and two mice.
Return the switch.

I use two PCs, TOW keyboards, two mice and two  monitors. There is a manual switch for the monitors so I can have dual display, but only when i want it.. While Geek-9pm may have had some bad experience with a KVM switch i on the other hand have been using a Ps2/vga KVM switch for years with no problems directly related to it. If this is a new piece of hardware i reccommend returning it for a replacement. I would not GIVE up on the KVM switch route until you have tried another one 1st. If this is a USB KVM switch that might evolve to be more of a problem with your USB ports than the switch itself. truenorth
