Solve : Trying to locate system battery? |
|
Answer» A neighbor of mine has an old Emerson computer. The model NUMBER is either 500EC or ET200 (the front SAYS one number and the BACK says the other). The machine boots up but goes no further than an error msg saying replace system battery. I know a bit about electronics so I think I know what a system battery should look like but I am unable to locate anything in the unit that looks like a battery. The only place that looks like there MIGHT have been a battery there is a circle marked S1 with 2 holes on the circuit board. I have no way of knowing if something like a battery holder and battery was there at one time and was removed. Does anyone have any information on the system battery for this unit? Some of you will undoubtedly think why bother with this computer but I would like to know if it can work. Thanks.Modern system batteries are round about the size of a dime, but thicker. Older ones had them built into the motherboard and an replacement could be soldered on later. I don't know for sure about the Emerson. I had an Emerson XT at one time, but never had occasion to change out a battery. What KIND of machine is this? System specifications?Computer is vintage 1990.Thats your area of expertise , then.
