I took the problem to be that when he uses the "remote" for the TV tuner card that instead of turning on/off the TV tuner function it is turning on/off the PC. That is what i responded to.truenorthI'm glad I'm not the only one confused by this post. Probably the remote uses IR and the TV card has a dongle with an IR sensor. I've seen very few PCs with an IR sensor so I don't think it is an IR code conflict. And the few PCs that use IR use it mainly to communicate with printers, not to turn it on and off. My guess is that something on the TV tuner card is shorting out when activated and shutting down the PC. I concur with "rthomson80819" observation about the "ir" and the notion that something is causing the PC to shut down due to the lack of compatibility or improper installation of the TV tuner card. nicolas still has not answered my question re the "newness" of the TV card's installation and the adherence to the installation manual process. My original ADVISE still stands with additional investigation at the same time to PC system and hardware requirements for the TV card.truenorthDoes the machine have a built in IR Port on it as well ? ? If so disable it in the BIOS.Are the correct drivers installed? I know on mine when you press the power button it comes up with a list of what you want to do like turn off the computer or start the tv tuner software. It usually defualts to turn off the computer, because its the first one.

We need more information on the hardware, as well as what you expect it to do for you.
