Answer» Hi There, I have a Compaq Presario SR 1619 and I wish to use two monitors so I have more screen workspace but I've noticed that there is only one monitor socket in the back of the tower. What do I need to buy to let me use another monitor? is it just an ADAPTOR or do I need to get another socket put in? If so is this something I can do myself or do I need it installed professionally? Many Thanks. You are going to need a second video card to INSTALL in the machine. The installation is relatively simple, but if you aren't comfortable working inside you PC you might PREFER to have a pro install it. I normally don't recommend Best Buy, but they will install the card for free if you buy it from them usually. Thanks so much for the help, I'll look into it.I found three versions of the Compaq Presario SR1619 listed on HP's website. I did not look at the specs on all three, just the Compaq Presario SR1619IT. According to the specs >here<, you have a PCI Express x16 graphics and you have 3 PCI slots. So, you could, as TheEmperor suggested, add a second video card in a PCI slot, or you could replace your PCI Express x16 graphics card with one that supports two monitors. The second option has an advantage of not having to install device drivers for two different video cards.
