Solve : Two Scanners Simultaneously in Win2K??

Answer»

I have a functioning Canoscan N670U flatbed scanner on a Dell Optiplex GX-1 with Win2KPro SP4. I'm interested in installing a Xerox Documate 510 document scanner to take advantage of the sheetfeeder & AUTOMATED .pdf creation. Can I install both scanners in Win2K at the same time without driver conflicts? I could uninstall the Canon, I know, but would prefer to leave it available to the system unless there is a reason not to do so.

I had a rather nasty experience with PaperPort software a few years ago before Visioneer was bought by Xerox; the software uninstall routine deleted a few essentials like ntldr & a few other little files somewhat important to loading the OS, so I'm a tad gunshy, but hopeful that software engineering has improved a bit in the meantime.

Thanks for any advice.

not sure if you can have two scanners or not, but you should be able to... Are they usb or PARALLEL?
Before installing the software, do a system backup. I think Symantec Backup Exec is somewhere around $100. I don't know of any free ones right off HAND, but I know backup exec works very well.
You may want to CONSIDER upgrading your computer to a more modern operating system as well.
Both are USB, would be on a USB 2.0 add-in card.

As for the OS... someday.

Thanks very much.Win2K is a fine OS...probably the most stable thing ever shipped out of REDMOND ever.
