Answer» I am having problems when I start my computer. It does not want to boot. The only way I can get it to boot up is if I MANUALLY force it to boot from the hard drive. I think this is an indication that a piece of hardware is going because I made sure there was nothing in the CD Rom Drive when it wouldn't start. Also If it helps anyone the other day the computer COULD not find the operating system the first 3 times I tried to start the computer, and then magically the system was found again. I have an HP Pavilion Notebook with an after market hard drive so it may just be time to get a new hard drive again. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? i would get a new hard drive but it sounds like a very very bad virusSeanbond why are you talking about viruses? Nothing in phleba23's post suggest a virus. Also try to borrow a known good PSU and swap it into your machine. If the symptoms go away it's time to replace the power supply.patio, it's an HP Pavilion Notebook PC.Ooooooops...It sounds to me like your laptop is having trouble recognising the after market HD and after you shut down it's forgetting the bios settings and reverting to the default and then you're back to where you started from. Conclusion... flat cmos battery, cheap to buy but I'm not sure how difficult they are to change, if it's easy (or cheap) I'd try it first.Just thought I would update people since everyone was so nice to help me. Since the couple of times my computer has acted up. It hasn't done anything out of the ordinary so my parents thought I should probably just wait until the computer totally tanks and then take it to a professional. Thank you very much for all of you help.If it tanks again stop here first...explain the price difference to your Parent's and i'm sure they will understand. Glad to hear you are up and running though. |
