Answer» Hey guys this isnt a pleed for help ,well for your advice .
I went out today and got a Geforce 7800 , power supply unit , intel pentuim 4 , and a gb of ram
My failure was in 2 ways , my NEW power supply unit doesnt fit my case......
and my geforce 7800 has no-where to plug into the motherboard for a recap my mother board is asrock p4vm890 and i know this is kinda sad but i spent a lot of money today on all this and i was almost in tears when i found out!!
I tryed upgradeing everything myself before hand , but i ended up taking it to a shop A DIFFRENT SHOP , THATS where i was told my power supply doesnt fit and and thats whats getting me thinking is .
I WAS ALSO TOLD MY MOTHERBOARD WONT SUPPORT INTEL PENTIUM 4 which it does :S
When i got my computer back from the guy he had put my olD cpu back in , and said everything was connected !!! ERM LET ME THINK . WAS IT F*** , I HAD TO CONNECT 3 DIFFRENT WIRES BACK INTP MY BOARD. AND I PAID I £20 FOR NOFING ... h**l the harddive wasnt even plugged in....
Now is it me ... or does this guy not seem like a pro...
I am haveing a bad day so please choose your words lighlty haOkay...I'll choose my words carefully...
1) You'll need to get the dimensions of your old power supply (that fit) and purcahse one with the specs you want and the dimensions of your old one.
2) Your video card...is it AGP or PCI?Oh by the grace of God goes I ................ iM NOT 2 SURE , http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce_7800.html THAT MIGHT HELP ...
But im still thinking steve , that it does fit i think that guy was talking out of his a** , the man couldnt even plug my power supply in right ...I really tryed guys i tryed my *censored* off!!!!
I really wanted to play online with calum , *censored* i spent enough so i could....
If anyone one has skype or msn i can chat to you live with my new skype wireless bluetooth headset .
I bought that for battlefield 2142 I even bought the *censored* game as well. You don't have a PCI express SLOT on your mobo...
Go back to the store and return the one you have for a PCI or AGP...preferably AGP.
That'll fix your video problem.
Check the dimensions of your old PS against your new one to see if it'll fit.
BTW...I referred your new graphics card as IDE but meant PCI...my bad.steve addecpt me into msn please ... i will talk to over a microphone , i can talk better ....steve come back on msn , my system crashed , cheers and i heard you lol but i couldnt say ANYTHING i feel for you, you'll get over this and be gaming soon...hang in there*I'm going over this with Richenstony right now. It was my bad about the case and power supply, I thought it was standad ATX but it was Micro-ATX. The P4 is compatible with the board, and so is the card. He is getting a new case, I think, so that the PSU will fit. We're getting there though.
