Solve : upgrade means lower performance????

Answer»

ive just recently upgraded my computer and given it a new antec 900 case, a 800watt power supply and a new harddrive, the case helped drop all temperatures by around 20 degrees on load but now when i want to play my games the averege FPS is at 30 whereas before it would average at 60.

You need to free up some space on that drive for starters...how much would that really help though? it was like that even before the upgradeWhat games? If its anything with any sort of good graphics, your cpu is really holding you back. And dont you THINK 800w is overkill?world of warcraft, the game ran fine before and ive seen improvements with this processor compared to my old one. wait so you dont have a 3GHZ p4? You need to update your specsoh lol soz i forgto about all that i havent been on this for some time ive updated itUpdated what ? ?my specsI don't know why CR was looking at your specs when you presented a Everest Report...Quote from: mannsupreme on September 16, 2009, 07:27:19 AM

Corrolation does not always mean causation.

Did you have Windows 7 on your original build?

Did you do an upgrade install from Vista?

Did you do a double-upgrade install from XP-to-Vista-to-7?

The more crap on your hard drive, the longer the PC has to take to seek stuff from it. That GOES double if it hasn't been defragged in 50 billion years...

Windows Vista and 7, by default, are scheduled to defrag once per week. 9% disk space prevents a defrag from ever taking place...

My general rule of thumb is that if your boot drive is to never let your boot drive reach more than 50% capacity.
