Solve : upgrade of hardware?

i have a R42 IBM thinkpad with 256 MB Ram and 40GB hard DISK. Can i upgrade it to 1GB or more Ram and also to a 160GB or more hard disk.PLease do also let me know if I NEED any further changes in the hardware to make.Also what would be the approximate cost for getting it upgraded.I am a user from India location.

Cheers..A laptop would be hard to upgrade.

But RAM would be easier to upgrade compared to Harddrive.

Note: Laptop RAM and desktop RAM is different, and so, when you buy the RAM, you MUST make sure it is laptop RAM.
