Answer» Hey guys. I'm relatively new to the forums and practically a newbie when it comes to computers so I'm hoping anyone out there could possibly help with some advice/suggestions.
Games I play - World of Warcraft:Cataclysm, Heroes of Newerth, Starcraft 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, DC Universe Online, The Sims3 I know these are some games that require a pretty decent computer but I play most of these settings on the lowest possible as I sacrifice quality for performance but as I progress in some of these games, I experience some lag.
Budget - Price Area I want to stay in $100-$500 but max price: $750 Willing to buy online or in stores, whichever would be best

If you think that I am just in need of new motherboard, suggest that as well with other suggestions. It's an old computer and I'm glad it's still ALIVE but its need of upgrades so I open to anything!!! If I miss any information that you need, please message me or post in this thread as I will do my best to reply and quickly fix. Lastly, I thank everyone who offers to help and for reading my thread. Thanks, again.First, I recommend backing up your data and then wipe your hard drive and reinstall the OS and applications. It could probably be junk collecting since you first booted your PC up, and then it should be faster in games.
Also, try to see http://www.hardware-revolution.com/best-video-cards-december-2010/ to see what is best, but I recommend the first option.Quote from: experimentaltech on February 05, 2011, 05:31:13 PM First, I recommend backing up your data and then wipe your hard drive and reinstall the OS and applications. That's not the sort of advice we give on this site. Reinstalling the OS is a LAST resort, not the first option. And it's the 2nd time he's suggested it in his short time here... Yep. Not to mention it's nonsense to begin with...
To original poster:
If you are having speed issues in games, it's probably your processor- it's CERTAINLY not your GPU. your Graphics card is (I think) two generations NEWER then mine (9800GT) and I personally haven't had any problems with any games, MANY of which are more "intensive" then those you listed. (NFS Shift, Crysis, Just Cause 2, among others).
a CPU upgrade might need a Motherboard upgrade, though... I'm not very familiar with most of the newer sockets.
