Solve : Upgrading GPU, etc...?

Answer»

I have a system built in 97 RUNNING Win 95. I want to upgrade this computer for a gaming computer if I can. Scan disk tells me there are bad sectors and that the hard drive may soon fail, otherwise all is working. I tried to run dxdiag to get basic information to work from but no luck. Is there an easy way to get the specs on this system?Honestly, it makes absolutely no sense to think about upgrading that computer, especially for a gaming machine. It's ten years old! In human years, it's a centenarian. BASICALLY there is nothing you can upgrade on it anymore.. All the slots will be ISA everything now is pci or pci express. The ram has gone through 3 generations since then pc 133 ddr and now ddr2 instead of pc 100 or maybe even pc 66. The hard drive is at most 5400 rpm drive which now is standard 7200 rpm and SATA 1 or SATA 2

So what i am saying is BUY a NEW pc don't even consider upgrading it. Not what I wanted to hear... but ThankyouYeah, go for a new computer instead, what has been said above is all too TRUE unfortunately.
Maybe you could sell that one for a little cash.
If you want help with the upgrade, post back with your max. budget, what games you play and so on and we'll help you out.Very little cash. You could donate and feel better about it.Quote from: GX1_Man on June 26, 2007, 03:25:01 AM
