Solve : upgrading graphics card? |
|
Answer» i own a celeron d 2.4ghz processor gvsr 845 intel motherboard computer with ONBOARD graphics. i have 2 pci slots empty would i be able to upgrade my graphics card since it has onboard graphics and if so what card will suit my computerSo, you have no AGP or PCI Express slot, right? If you only have PCI slots, that severely limits your choices. But, you still have some to choose from. Here's ONE source that lists 39 PCI cards: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=319 The first listed there, PNY Verto GeForce FX 5200 Video Card - 256MB DDR, PCI, Dual VGA, TV Out, Video Card, looks INTERESTING if it fits your budget for this. If you think you might want to run dual monitors, then this card would be a very good choice. but my doubt is if my computer which has onboard graphics will support external graphics cardDo you have any documentation on your motherboard? If not, visit the manufacturer's website and search for documentation, perhaps a downloadable user's manual. Exactly what MAKE and model computer do you have? Most computers with onboard graphics will support an add-on video card of one type or another (PCI Express, AGP, or PCI). With some systems, installing an add-on video card will automatically disable the onboard video. With other systems, you need to access your BIOS settings and disable onboard video. |
