Answer» Dear Users Dear UserOk go with the 600w PSU.....Have a LOOK into this 700w..... http://www.jonnyguru.com/review_details.php?id=35 Tony Quote from: extreme on July 27, 2007, 11:55:32 AM Dear UsersUPS = Uninterruptible Power Supply. That's not something in your computer. It's a battery backup unit to keep your computer running in case of power outage and also provide a smooth, even power supply. Did you mean UPS or PSU (the power supply unit in your computer)?soybean, he replied asking about "600W, 500W or pure sing wave". I think he meant "pure sine wave". That is a UPS term. extreme, 500W and 600W are power ratings. Are you getting confused between UPS and PSU? We don't know how much power your PC draws, so 600W is the safer choice for a UPS, out of 500W or 600W. It's not my money anyway! You are a fool if you spend money like that because a guy in a forum said so! There are TWO kinds of UPS - "modified sine wave" is the cheaper kind used for PC workstations where the power supply is cheap to replace if you burn it out with the rough AC waveform. - "pure sine wave" is a more expensive type of UPS for mainly used for servers where you must have clean power to protect the equipment from failing prematurely. Since you have given us next to no information, I'll happily spend your money for you - get the biggest pure sine wave UPS you can afford! Why do you want a UPS anyway? Quote from: contrex on July 28, 2007, 09:21:09 AM Why do you want a UPS anyway?Your question seems to imply a UPS is not necessary. I wouldn't be without one. Why Use a UPS Why use a UPS?Quote Your question seems to imply a UPS is not necessary. I wouldn't be without one. Maybe I'm lucky. I LIVE in the UK, in an area where power outages and dirty AC are very rare. Very few urban domestic users bother with them. If I lived out in the sticks in a country with more extreme weather with 5 miles of 11 Kv wires on poles linking me to the substation, maybe I'd think differently. At my house I have had 1 power outage in 10 years. A UPS is just not needed. Well, you're fortunate then. Here in the Ohio community where I live, I'm not out in the sticks but I'm in a small town that's exploding with new development. Maybe that's why brief, noticeable, power flickers are not uncommon here. |
