Solve : !Urgent: I dropped my laptop, possible headcrash hdd?

Answer»

I tripped over my wires and my laptop brutally fell to the floor.
My hdd started making weird sounds after that (for a short few seconds after the crash, some LIGHT.. SCRATCHY, repeated sounds, don't know how to describe it).

Yes my first obvious idea is to immediately backup everything I have.
Should I be very worried for my disk now? I downloaded S.M.A.R.T. TOOLS from SourceForge.net and
they aren't giving me much info after running some of the commands on my disk.
I' m worried if my hdd might be dying or if it is going to suddenly show some headcrash/click. I can't predict it.
I would like to know a way to predict it. I want to know the state, health of my hdd and if there are sector problems.

Thanks for letting me know.

Edit: I'm running CrystalDiskInfo at the moment and the hdd status says: "Good".
I'll post more detailed info in a few.

Here's my disk report.
Hard-drives like any other electro/mechanical device can fail catastrophically at any time without warning, such failure cannot be predicted although you might get some recognizable symptoms.  You should always have backup for your critical files.

If you suspect your hdd might be damaged in any way replace it!! Quote from: Big on September 03, 2010, 01:42:21 PM

Don't forget "Certified Computer Technician" he/she has a lot of problems in about 4/5 TOPIC in the forum , he/she would be better to reformat  but a Certified Computer Technician should know that
