Wow, what a innovative way of using an old CD to create your own USB powered fan.

I'd love to make it but I don't have such a motor. As soon as I get my hands on a CD Drive I find laying around, I'm gonna make myself one of those.

What?

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured out what you said. I didn't watch the tutorial, but I imagine he MIGHT've used a large X-Acto knife (possibly heated), a large papercutter, or perhaps industrial-strength scissors.I couldent watch the tutorial at all.... it wouldn't LOAD (Yesterday, or Today)At the very beginning of the video it shows him using what appears to be traditional scissors to cut the CD and then he uses a lighter to help bend each of the blades.

Yeh, having some tips on the motor specs (volts, etc.) and where to get one would be helpful. Some audio or text in that video to provide some details would also be helpful.

I think I'd just buy a small fan rather than try this DIY project; the time spent obtaining the materials and putting it together would be significant. I saw a 4 inch fan in WALMART for $4 or $5; I think that would be my choice for a small desktop fan.
