Solve : USB Device not recognised?

Answer»

I have a fujitzu external 2.5" 60gb drive. It has been working okay on my pc without any problems until yesterday. Now when it is PLUGGED in it says USB Device not recognised/ unknow device. I have looked in the properties of the unknown device and It says that it has not GOT a driver installed. However my external drive works on a different pc okay. I have never had a driver for this before. It suposts to work with plug and play.

I am starting to think it is not my drive and my pc is at fault.
I have checked out the USB connections and ports but I can't SEE any problems with them. Other things like my camera work okay with the usb connection.

Please could someone advise me.. or even tell me which driver I am suppost to have.

I would be very grateful..Have you tried reinstalling the drivers?Yeah I have tried installing the driver but It would not work.

Any more idea's?Try it on the rear USB ports...A friend's Win XP laptop has a similar problem and I'm trying to sort it out. Plug in the USB disk and the little balloon comes up, identifying the device. Then the Wizard comes up looking for a driver, but none CAME with it (all my research indicates that none should be needed). Sometimes, after two or three iterations of the wizard, Explorer sees the new drive, but sometimes not. When it's SEEN, it works.
Same scenario when I brought over my 1GB pen drive. No driver came with that either, nor have I ever needed on on Win XP.

Ideas? I'm reduced to reinstalling Win XP on the laptop from the recovery CDs.
