Solve : usb error?

hi all

i have a (emax USB) stick and i have put music photos and other stuff on it and i want to put it on my laptop which is running vista when i put me USB into the 2.0 USB port it comes up with a error message saying
(HARDWARE id missing) then it says "windows cant identify device plugged into USB 2.0 ports ONE"
i have try my USV in every USB ports on the laptop what should i do
me memory stick works on my MANE computer fine so theres nothing wrong with the USB stick is there

This is simply not true.
Make sure your info is ACCURATE before hitting the Post button.

wookie what machine were these photos put on the thumb drive on ? ?
Does the device work in other machines ? ?
Also did the laptop come with Vista installed on it or was it added later ?the photos were put on from my main pc
the laptop came with vista already installed
and the usb workes on the 2 other computers in my house

From the START Menu type in computer management and hit Enter.
Then select disk management.
Right clik the USB stick and select properties and report back what it says...
