Answer» Ive had my PC for a YEAR and have always had my mouse and keyboard in the usb PORTS and nothing else,
Since yesterday my mouse would start CUTTING out while playing a game and needs to be taken out and plugged back in to get it working again, after this about 5 mins later both my keyboard and mouse cut out and i get a pop up saying my usb devices have malfunctioned and i need to restart to FIX it.
I thaught this maybe a usb overload but im not sure?
I tried to put my keyboard into the ps2 socket using an adapter and got the bootup error "Ntoskrnl.exe file is missing or corrupt" as soon as i put it back into usb i dont get this error and it boots up but cuts out during games.
Thanks alot for any helpYou didn't mention what OS you are running. Go to CONTROL Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager and scroll all the way down to the USB devices . Right clik them and select Remove. You will be greeted with a warning message...ignore it. Do this for all the USB hubs listed and re-boot the machine. Windows will now reinstall the USB hubs automatically and you should be good to go.

If Patio's good advice doesn't do the trick, it may be that the actual USB port of your computer is going bad. Do you have a different port into which you may plug the mouse?
Let us know how it goes, Doc
