Answer» My 2 front USB ports are not recognising my CARD reader and my external Seagate Drive, neither of them have software I've tried the mouse in the ports and that is fine, they were okay yesterday went into device manager says unrecognosed devices .
Tried closing down and rebooting a few times. Any ideas. Plain language please Thank you IreneThe front ports on most machines are notorious for being under-powered due to cost cutting manufacturing issues...do the devices work normally on the rear ports ? ? If so there are extension cables available. I know it's not a solution but it's easier than re-wiring the inside of your case. A powered USB hub would also be another fix...
http://www.usbgear.com/USB2_7port_hub/Thanks I've tried them on the back ports too and getting the same result, this has happened earlier this month and then it righted itself after a few days without me dong anything except pulling my hair out, hopefully it will do it again, its crazy my scanner is on a USB hub at back and is fine although of course that PLUGS in to a power pont too, I've tried USING the extra power USB plus that plugs into another hub but made no difference. My COMPUTER guy put extra INTERNAL power it but will talk to him about a powered USB hub. I got rid of a mouse earler because it suddenly stopped working maybe that was the same problems too
