Answer» I have an old computer running W98. It has a USB port which I want to PLUG in a flash drive tyo copy my hard drive before get rid of it.
I am trying to find if IT IS USB 1.1, OR 2.0, ETC? SO i CAN GET A COMPATIBLE FLASH DRIVE.

tHANKSAs best I remember - I don't think you can make '98 do more than 1.1 - once the 'driver' installed from a floppy.
I do remember too - it was not overly successful trying to get USB functioning properly - on my old machine anyways.The key WORD is 'Enhanced'.If it's "Enhanced", it's USB 2.0. If it's not, then it's USB 1.1.
Right-click My Computer Click on Properties Click on the Hardware tab Click on the device Manager button SCROLL down until you see UNIVERSAL Serial Bus Controllers Expand that by clicking on the boxed plus sign in front of Universal Serial Bus Controllers.See if the word 'Enhanced' is USED.
Read the below link and choose which windows 98 you have. The generic USB drivers provided here work fairly often.
