Solve : Use powered/amplified speaker for TV? |
|
Answer» My mother is hard of hearing, and I want to set up an amplified TV sound speaker next to her recliner. The speaker should have it's own volume control, because cable CHANNEL volume levels vary so widely. I have this unused altec lansing powered/amplified speaker system made for connection to a computer sound card (lime green 3.5mm plug). Her 7 year old Toshiba TV has the normal red(left) and WHITE(right) RCA AUDIO out CONNECTIONS. No luck. Very feeble, distorted sound! There is obviously a serious impedance/level MISMATCH. I can run the sound through her hifi amp and plug the lime green plug into the hifi amp's earphone output. But it seems a waste to run the hifi amp all the time. Surely, I am not alone with this problem. Has anyone seen an ready-made adapter or op amp circuit that will accomplish this? |
