Solve : Using disconnected laptop monitor as second monitor?

Answer»

Hello,

I was wondering if ANYONE knew of an easy WAY to use a laptop monitor that has been separated from the laptop as an additional monitor on desktop system.

I have two pictures. The connection coming out the the laptop monitor is nothing I have seen before. I am HOPING someones knows of a cable that will allow it to be PLUGGED into a vga port or something along those lines.

No, can't be done.Keep in mind that the screen got it's power from the battery on the main body plus a charger is involved so you need some way to power it. The graphics card was built into the mother board so you need some way to tie it into a graphics card with nonstandard connectors. It would be a real McGiver or Rube Goldburg contraption.

I've got to think somebody out there could do it, but CONSIDERING the time and expense involved it would be easier and cheaper just to but another monitor.Quote from: rthompson80819 on October 01, 2009, 04:37:03 PM

That's what I meant. Most likely it's some form of digital (DVI) interface but even if you could do it, who would want to? If it weren't proprietary, there might be some market for an adapter cable and a stand to mount the screen.

I could do it, but have absolutely no interest in doing it.Thanks for the info guys. I figured it was worth a shot.
