Solve : very odd graphics/lockup problem?

Answer»

I have been experiencing a strange problem with what I assume to be my video card. I has only happened while playing games so far, but it doesn't SEEM to matter which game it is (with the exception of Empire Earth II, with which it has never occurred). What HAPPENS is the game will give no indication that is is about to lock up (no slowdown, strange noises, etc.) and then randomly, this:

will happen. It will continue playing the music and sound as normal for a few seconds, and then the sound loops. I have been living with this for a while and it drives me up the wall every TIME it happens. I have upgraded all of the video drivers, the bios, the sound drivers, and every other driver within the last 5 days. I can usually catch problems like this by looking at the event log or reading the BSOD, but in this case, there is no BSOD (the screed stays like the picture until I reboot) and the event log returns nothing unusual.

If anyone has any ideas on this, It would be great to HEAR any suggestions.

Thank you,
Justin

BTW, that beautiful screenshot above came from World of Warcraft, but if needed, I have an equally beautiful one that came from black and white II.Check and see that the fan on that card is spinning up properly. HEAT Kills...

patio.  yeah, the fans seem to be spinning fine, but I did wonder if it was an overheating problem, and if so, how would I know? I do not have a thermometer in there, so I can't monitor it unless there is an thermometer built into the graphics card that I don't know about.http://www.snapfiles.com/get/mbm.html

Motherboard Monitor.

Enjoy.
