haha!

What's so funny?

The huge block of text by Truenorth amused me.

I am easily amused. Ah yea it was kind of difficult to read (Sorry Truenorth)

I just THOUGHT you might be laughing because I forgot the 'b' on bonus and it LOOKED kinda funny with a quick glance...Quote from: Kurtiskain on December 24, 2008, 03:26:40 AM

I'd never do that. While i certainly do appreciate the elocution assistance i wonder if an opinion on the "firewire"aspect of the posters problem could be addressed.truenorth best of the season.Well what I ment was I want to playback in Stereo because all of my tapes are recorded in Stereo they are not old.

So I thought Hi Fi will playback in Stereo.
Then I saw Norm and Norm Hi Fi and the book did not tell what all the diferant modes are???nymph4, As i stated i do believe i understand your issue completely now. However if you could provide me (as i asked) the name of the manufacturer and model number of the VCR i will try to do some research on it and see if i can find out more about your 3 audio options. Also, while it may not be a concern, i am curious as to what effect the "firewire" connection might have on your transfers.truenorthThe firewire is digital...Should provide Stereo however Normal and Hi-Fi will both be in stereo as long as he has both the white and red plugged in AND if the tape is stereo.

The white doubles as Mono/Left
So if he only uses white, the box will detect this and convert it to mono signal, yet if he uses the two output sources, (white and red) it will be output in stereoThis is going to be my last kick at this can-the more i read the more confused i get. Plus i am NOT getting answers from the creator of the post to the questions i am asking. However it is this that causes my concern re the "firewire":= "So my Stereo VCRs Audio Jecks Left and Right and the Video Jecks are going into an ADVC 100 Box.

This Box takes Analog Signals and converts them to Digital Signals and Outputs them in a Firewire.

This Firewire I have going into my Computer."
While i do comprehend that the firewire is digital. How is the firewire (with one cable i assume) creating an audio file that will be "stereo". Given what stereo actually is. That is my conundrum.truenorth

My CVR is a JVC HR-J692U

And my AD VC100 box takes the Left and Right and the Video Outputs from my Stereo VCR.

And sends them to my computer Firewire so it is putting Stereo sound in the Firewire RIGHT?my say:
Yes

If in doubt, record something with only left or only right and then play it back over the firewire and see if the levels will only show on one side.Kurtiskain, I commend you on your last suggestion. That test will eradicate any concerns i have about the firewire aspect.truenorthQuote from: truenorth on December 25, 2008, 07:59:15 AM

Thanks

so all you NEED to do is get somthing that you know outputs in stereo that can output to rca eg dvd player, and use just white, (remember this will give you levels on both left and right() and then with just red and see if you only get right hand channels. Then try both and listen to it to tets for voice movement.
