Answer» I use my computer largely for gaming and generally like to KEEP up-to-date with my video cards and capabilities. As of late I've noticed my two SLI linked geforce 6800 gt's haven't really been doing the job (frequent freezing and the like) and so i'm looking to upgrade. I just recently bought vista so I'm good to GET a nice video card (or 2!).
I was thinking about the 8600 gts... but do you think it wiser to spend the extra MONEY for the 8800 GT or 8800 gts?
Thanks for the opinions get 2 8800gts cos 2 8600 are same as a 8800ultra so think wat u can with 2 8800'skind of off topic but what r u gonna do with the old cards...........?You might notice a performance drop from two 6800GTs to an 8600GTS, but the 8800GT or GTS will run the latest GAMES at high settings, and another can be added later on for even better performance. It's always best to buy the best you can afford now rather than get a slower card and then SLI it, that leaves no real upgrade path other than replacing the cards.I have studied these video cards ( a little bit ) because im also uprgading, and im buying a 8800gt, i think it is very good value for price.

Yes, if you're not going to wait for the new G92-based 8800 GTS, then the 8800 GT is the perfect choice for ANYONE.
