Solve : Video card problem post-SP2 update?

Answer»

So I decided to finally UPGRADE to SP2, only because my Windows Live Messenger was not working on SP1 for some funky reason. After doing so, I had to install some of the drivers again (wireless, sound, video card, monitor). I was on a roll until the 3rd one, video card, got me stuck. I use a generic Nvidia 128mb AGP card, and I have the drivers for it, but the computer doesn't seem to detect the card at all. This was never a problem back when I was using SP1. I tried uninstalling the previous drivers and reinstalling again, but the driver software still wouldn't detect the card. What's more, I checked in Device Manager and I couldn't even find Display Adapter! I tried going the Add Hardware way, but that didn't help. I even tried unplugging the card and PLUGGING it back in, but still no luck. Right now I'm on VGA I think. Before I try a reformat (too much to go through, backup and whatnot) or buying a new card, I'd like to see if I can fix this. Hope someone can help!

HP pav 061
AMD 3000+ (2.2Ghz)
768 DDR RAM
Windows XP Pro SP2

Generic Nvidia 128mb AGP video card (I used 77.72 driver before and it was fine)
Samsung SyncMaster 940bw monitor (I can't use it properly because the monitor needs the video card RUNNING to have it set to proper widescreen RESOLUTION, which I believe is 1440x900 or something. I'm running 1024x768 now with a crappy refresh rate...)
