Answer» Hi, I recently purchased a ATI Radeon 9600xt 256mb, and I am having some trouble.
This is my first real video CARD purchase, so I need some help. I've inserted the card in it's agp slot, but when I plug my MONITOR in to it, the screen stays black. As in the driver isnt installed ?? but I installed the driver. My other card was a motherboard card (radeon 700 series).
What I need to know how to do is change the display from the default place to the NEW agp card's place.
Were/are both of these cards AGP cards? Do you have an AGP Slot? The computer should automatically DETECT the card... When you press the power button, what happens? Any beeping sounds?
[glb]Flame[/glb]No beeping, also this is agp card which is my first agp card.No beeping, also this is agp card which is my first agp card.Does your computer have an internal video card? If so you can disable that and switch to your new video card. Also is that video card compatiable with your motherboard? What kind of motherboard is it?I checked to see if it was compatible with motherboard and yes it is, but When I go to my hardware on C drive, and I click on adapter.. it only comes up with radeon 7000 series which is my CURRENT, but would disabling that enable my new card??? You need to go into your bios & choose AGP as your video.

Remove any non-AGP videocards present.
Disable any onboard video present.
If neither is done, the videocard will not be used by the PC.
