Answer» I have an Acer Computer (New) it has an integrated ATI radeon X1200 IGP video. I only have a 250 watt power supply on the MACHINE. I would like to insert a better, upgraded, seperate, Video card to handle some video editing? To include some more information: AMD Athlon 64x24200 DUAL core
Thank YouMotherboard model # ? ? You are going to need a new PSU ...Agree with Patio.
Probably GET a 450W minimum - or better. Also - you will probably have to disable on board integrated vid thru BIOS when you eventually add a new card.
Patio's question re motherboard model is relevant re whether you have an AGP slot or just PCI or PCI-E slots - which will influence your choice of new card.ya no point in keeping that psu if you want a better gpu...Motherboard: AMD Athlon 64x2 4200+ Dual Core
PC-e for card slot
Acer guy told me that with the PC-e slot, a 300 watt card would work without overheating? However, I like second OPINIONS,and thirds etc ThanksWell what graphics card were you looking to get? Maybe then SOMEONE will tell you what PSU you will need.
