Solve : Video Memory reading Wrong?

Answer»

Hmm what should I do? My Video Card is only 8MB I know that for a fact and its internal... yes its internal.... The thing is in windows XP it reads the video card as 32MB instead of 8MB. The only Operating SYSTEM that can get it right is Windows 2000.

Video Card Memory Read by Each OS:

Windows 98  4MB

Windows ME 6MB

Windows 2000 8MB

Windows XP 32MB

I really aren't concern its reading it wrong the thing is if I run an application that is over 8MB the computer runs it for about 5 Min before the computer restarts on its own.... I would buy a new video card but I don't have a AGP slot on my motherboard and Im using all my PCI slots... Is there anyway I can tell the computer its 8MB? Besides yelling at it when it resstarts.. BTW any application that is over 8MB The pictures are horrible I mean horribleIt may be caused by the following:

  • Incorrect drivers
  • Incorrect BIOS settings. Allocate more RAM to the videocard
  • Videocard is not supported by pre-Windows XP OS.

They are either expansion or onboard, not internal.I guess I'll use my Windows 98 OS more often... I have many OS on my computer which only XP can get on the net the reset im still playing around with ... I was wondering I wanted to CHECK out Linux but there are so many kind who knew! So I was wondering if you can recomend one I can play with can you get me a link also please...

Oh can I install Linux with my other Operating SYSTEMS or do I need a blank computer?

This probally should go to a new thread but I want to conserve space..I am still waiting on someone to tell me what Linux to download. I will find out rather soon, though. I shall keep you updated.
