Answer» SEHello, everyone: VLC... If anyone reading along is interested, the link is: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html Note that it says: Quote Windows 95/98/Me users: Please note that these versions of Windows are not officially supported. No VideoLAN developer uses any of these systems, which makes them hard to support. VLC should mostly work with them, but some incompatibilities might appear. You might need to download The Microsoft Layer for Unicode on Windows 95/98/Me Systems. The two MSLU files need to be put in the C:\Windows\System\ folder. and a link is provided for downloading it. Using Win98SE here. I have VLC installed, and have the MSLU files. VLC runs, and plays most - not all - video files. Some are unwatchable though. Very herky-jerky. I'm not big on video files, so I have never really explored it to see if it can be improved. I can't comment on DVDs. No DVD player here. This one is suppose to work with Win 98: http://downloads.zdnet.com/download.aspx?&kw=dvd+player&docid=304298You need at least DVD-Rom drive and a software capable of PLAYING DVD's. GOM player, VLC player, Windows Media Player, Windows Media Player Classic, Real Player, AVS Player... any of these freeware softwares can play dvd media fine. I prefer either windows media player or real player but you CHOOSE what software you like best. |
