Answer» i have a problem with my hardware on both computers. when i turn on the computers, the monitor nor keyboard works. ive tried different video cards that i have and still the same problem. ive also tried plugging my monitor into the other computer, same problem. any ways to fix this? Not a lot to go on here! Could be lots of different faults. Do any fans start up? Hard drives whirr? Do you get any beeps? Do any lights flash on your keyboard? Etc.Quote Not a lot to go on here! Could be lots of different faults. Do any fans start up? Hard drives whirr? Do you get any beeps? Do any lights flash on your keyboard? Etc. Fans start. Hard drive 'whirrs' No beeps. No lights on keyboard. my theory is that its the processor. Reduce computer to bare minimum; on stick of memory etc. Then try. Then (if possible) swap parts with known working parts until you find the culprit. It could be something as random as a faulty soundcard that prevents the PC from BOOTING.i recently bought a refurbished motherboard from frys. (yesterday) i dont have any extra available stuff. but heres one big thing, i bought a new motherboard because i attempted to overclock my processor. it ran for about 2 hours at a normal temperature then boosted crazy, i tried to reboot to my computer to set the processor at a normal clock speed. then, the problem was, it would boot up to only the cpu temperature screen, then go to a blank screen. now it wont even get to that. my monitor LED stays orange instead green.also, i left my computer running as is for a while, then turned it off. i checked the processor cooling grid thing and it was warm as if the processor was working. is it still possible for the CPU do be burned out or FRIED and it still get warm as if it were working?Quote Not a lot to go on here! Could be lots of different faults. Do any fans start up? Hard drives whirr? Do you get any beeps? Do any lights flash on your keyboard? Etc. about the beeps, before i replaced my motherboard it was beeping an awful lot, just little short beeps while trying to boot. (like i said doesnt get past the CPU temperature screen.) it only beeps while booting, once it makes it to the blank black screen, beeping stops.joe_tucker- You seem to be having a LOT of computer problems. TELL me this isn't the machine you were wanting to overclock the video card on. sadly, yes i did overclock that too. yes, im an idiot and regret every move i made in overclocking. but, i learned my lesson. now im just trying to get at least back to normal.again, i did try different video cards with my monitor, and a different monitor on the different cards. and on my new motherboard theres a cmos jumper to reset or BIOS settings, i did that before booting up.i also have enough money to buy a replacement processor, thats why i was wondering if it was the processor. or for a new video card if needed.joe_tucker.......... What part of the the quote did you neglect to read ....... Quote Be AWARE that overclocking will produce heat ........... So proceed with extreme caution .......... or you will fry things.[/b] We don't offer these suggestions just to hear ourselves talk......... Hopefully you have learned your lesson ....... BTW how much did you jack up the voltage ? dl65 just on the ram, 1.6 to 1.7 or something like that. but like i said, i replaced my motherboard AND reset bios settings just incase.Quote just on the ram, 1.6 to 1.7 or something like that We'll hope you didn't cook that as well. Some people like to mess with settings without any thought of what damage they can do. Components are tested to function at certain speeds, frequency, heat, etc. When you alter that, the results can be disastrous. I love posts from folks who want to overclock a new Athlon 3700+, etc. just because they can. Honestly, if that isn't fast enough you have other issues, or too much money. i have an extra stick that i didnt use and i tried it, computer still does the same thing. so i doubt anythings wrong with my ram. it still is possible though. |
