Solve : Vista printer list populates slow?

Answer»

When I go to print using Vista it takes about 15 seconds for the list of available printers to populate. I'm new to Vista, but this action was SEEMINGLY instantanious with XP. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

SkipNot a windows VISTA expert.....or fan for that MATTER.....but you are not the first person to realize that many basic operations that were seemingly easy for XP appear to be extremely difficult for VISTA.  MAYBE someone with more experience has a fix for you.I don't really understand your question.
When I want to print something, my default printer kicks in, and it prints.
I'm not sure what printers list you're referring to.

This is useless comment, and it's not even true.Good point. To test I just clicked the printer icon in IE and Eric's helpful comments  quickly printed via my default printer. The catch is when I want to use a printer other than the default printer and I select "print" from the file menu or use the keyboard equivalent, Control P to pull up the print dialogue. There is a window which populates with all the available printers including Adobe PDF, other printers on the network, DocuSign etc. In XP that window either started with the full list of available printers or populated so fast I never noticed (don't recall which, probably the former), but with Vista there is a significant lag before the list of available printers shows up. I hope this clarifies the issue.

SkipThat's BETTER, but it's different, than on my Vista.
When I go File>Print, or CTRL+P, my default printer dialog opens:

Only, when I click on drop-down menu, I can see other printers.
