Answer» Not sure if any of you, out there, have a job in RETAIL...but, just wanted to vent a bit. Don't worry 'bout the slackers...keep out doing them...even if it's for personal gratification. Will do buddy...at least until this frame of mine gives up. The mind says, "...sure you can"...while the body says, "Aww, *censored* no!" Quote from: reddevilggg on February 21, 2012, 12:09:00 PM I think its because 'retail' is not a career option for alot of people. It's more of a stop gap. Although, a lot young people do have this attitude. Was definitely NOT a career option...just "convenient".If you're suggesting that the "younger generation" has been raised to feel entitled, I don't think you'll get much of an argument. I like this...and "yes"...I am.I've been working a minimum wage job at a local restaurant for just over a year now and I don't actually mind it that much. It's a lot more physical work than I originally expected, but now that I've gotten used to LIFTING bucketfuls of dishes I have really come to appreciate how hard people work. I really don't want to grow up to be a "I'm here, now when's my break and paycheck coming?" guy, so I really try my best to work the hardest I can at everything I do. Unfortunately, you seem to be in the minority of today's youth. But hey, I'm guessing every generation has had its share of problems / complaints with the younger generations. Quote "Yeah, I showed up...now when is my break and when do I get paid?" I'm not knocking all young people...just those with absolutely no work ethics. http://www.inspiracy.com/black/abolition/abolitionofwork.html Quote from: Allan on February 23, 2012, 05:50:30 AM And that's admirable. Even though I did mention the word "youth"...this also applies to some of the adults I have worked with. Quote from: GlitchPC on February 21, 2012, 12:02:09 PM Why is it...the harder you work...the more they give you to do...while those who goof off...get away with it? It never ceases to amaze me. That exactly is the attitude I came across in all my jobs RECENTLY. My parents didn't raise me like that, and I'm really thankful for it! |
