Solve : webcam does not work? |
|
Answer» i've got a webcam from singapore about a year ago, know nothing about what model etc, but now my sister is ordering me to install it on her computer, after ruining the installation disks. is there anyway that i can fix that?
well see, there's a problem with that. i got it about a year ago and threw the box out, and it says nothing on the actual webcam, and the installation cd only says Would there possibly be a Help file on this CD or something with a .txt extension ? ? Quote after ruining the installation disks Sorry...i didn't spot that. How badly is the CD ruined? Is it just scratched up or is it broken? If it's just scratches we're TALKING about here, there's a chance you could get at least a readme file off of it. Maybe even use a data recovery program if needed. And, of course, if this is the case, there's the option of resurfacing the CD, depending on how bad it is. If the CD is too badly damaged...are there any labels/markings anywhere on the webcam that you may have overlooked? What about a copyright ETCHED into the bottom? Maybe a sticker with the FCC ID on it? Considering its origins, these may be a stretch.replying to patio and raptor..... one of the disks has a peice of music on it and nothing else, and the other one is blank.chris? as ruined, i don't mean scratched or broken..i mean that one has music and nothing else and the other has nothing at all......when i say ruined i mean ruinedand replying to what raptor said about an advanced search, nothing like that worked. still needing help Quote from: computer on April 15, 2007, 09:43:10 PM chris? as ruined, i don't mean scratched or broken..i mean that one has music and nothing else and the other has nothing at all......when i say ruined i mean ruined Odd... Did these CD's EVER work? Have you tried accessing them with all hidden files viewable? Sorry if it seems like I'm grasping at straws here, but there's just so little to work with. Unforutunately, there aren't any universal webcams drivers (there's one I know of for Mac, but it's specific to about three or four brands...which isn't very universal), so you may end up having to get a new webcam. I have the Creative Instant, which is pretty cheap and is good for the price. Other than that, I'm really not sure what we can do for you here. But stick around and maybe someone will have something else to suggest.computer...... Unplug the Web Cams USB cable from the rear of the tower and look to see if there is a paper tag right near the USB connector ....... Many of those webCams put the make and model number on a tag there. dl65 You might be AHEAD to get a proper web cam, hopefully with a recognizable brand and possibly even some support for it. This appears a fruitless endeavor. replying to the past 3 posts, chris --- Quote from: CBMatt on April 16, 2007, 04:42:54 AM Odd... Did these CD's ever work?
