Solve : Weird CRT monitor issue?

Answer»

I came here LOOKING for help with an AOC 15" CRT color monitor that's driving me up the wall.........MOST of the time , it has a clear , crisp screen with perfect tint , but all of a sudden ( I never know when) the screen starts to flicker , the colors go all over the place & there suddenly appears about 10 <> green vertical lines..........there are times when they VANISH in a few seconds & the screen returns to normal & other times when I have to turn off & unplug monitor for at least an hour before it returns to normal.
ANYBODY have any ideas about the cause of & solution to this problem???
TIALooks to me, like it's going south. Try it on another computer. Thanks for reply...........I tried on other PCs with same symptoms............I was hoping somebody knew the ELECTRONICS involved & how to repair..................I'll keep using it until it doesn't come on anymore...........it only sost $5 at a yard sale 3 yrs. ago.CRT monitors are complex beasts, and they contain high voltages. The EHT supply to the CRT anode is around 25,000 volts. Asking for help to FIX a CRT monitor if you have ZERO electronics knowledge is a bit like asking how to build a car out of iron ore.
What makes you think I have "zero" knowledge???Sorry, that didn't come out the way I intended.
