Solve : What are the slots next to the slots for RAM on my Intel motherboard?? |
|
Answer» HI, Just wondering about what looks like the 3rd and 4th slots for RAM on my Intel 850 motherboard... I just updated my RAM and, when I saw those extra slots, thought 'Why don't I put the old 512MB RAM in them? That way I'd have 3GB total?' The RAM pretty much fits, it just doesn't close on one side (those clip things). However, either that is not good enough or the slots aren't for RAM as the computer doesn't say it has them when I boot it up. It says I have 2GB rather than 3 and, when I put the new RAM in the slots before (because I am lazy!) it said there was only 1GB of RAM rather than 3. Can anyone tell me what these slots are or why I am having TROUBLE GETTING the RAM correctly into them? Thanks, jamesWhat is the full model number of that BOARD? What kind of processor?See GX1_Man, pictures could come in handy In reply to your question about the board model, it is an: S478 Intel 865PE ATX A L R the processor being: P4 2.8 512Kb S478 BOX 800FSB those details according to my invoice from dabs. Thanks for reading thus far and hopeful that you can help explain what these slots additional are! jamesJames, I don't mean to be an *censored*; but how about reading the manual? They don't provide you with a piece of a tree for nothing, you know. |
