Answer» Hi, I'm looking after a number of PCs of various ages. Our more modern PCs display their CPU speed alongside their CPU type. We have a number of PCs with processors stating that they are "x86 Family n Model n Stepping n AT/AT Compatible". Can ANYONE THROW any LIGHT on how fast the CPUS are on these processors?
Also, could you explain what AT/AT Compatible means? One of our PCs does not say this. What difference does that make to it?
Thanks x86 is the arcitechture of most intel and AMD chips, and dates back to the original intel 8086 architecture. AT/AT compatible refers to the old IBM PC/AT and does not tell you much of anything about speed.
